Architect's drawing of the "new" Martin H. Glynn school
From the 1928 - 29 VHS Yearbook

“The cut here shown is made from an architect's drawing of the new school building and shows, in the main, the front of the building as it will appear when completed.”

“This building is a strictly modern, fireproof structure of sufficient size to accommodate the present school needs and to allow for the liberal growth which seems bound to follow its completion. In the basement, in addition to the heating and ventilating equipment, will be found two dressing rooms with shower baths and lockers for the use of athletic teams using the gymnasium, two rooms for later work in vocational training and a large recreation room which may be used for indoor play in stormy weather.”

“The first floor contains the gymnasium with an ample stage and two dressing rooms so that the room may be used as an auditorium as well as a gymnasium. Provision is made for storing the auditorium seats on specially constructed trucks that can be rolled into spaces provided for them under the stage so that the room may be cleared for recreational work. Entrances to the auditorium are so placed that the room may be used without passing through any other part of the building thus making it possible to carry on work in the gymnasium or auditorium without interfering with the regular work of the class rooms.”

“The first floor will also contain six standard size grade rooms and two toilet rooms. The second floor will contain two additional grade rooms, four high school class rooms, a laboratory, a good sized study hall, with library room adjoining, a teachers' room, principal's office and two toilet rooms.”

“Each grade room is to be provided with wardrobes for pulpils' wraps, while lockers will be provided in the second floor corridor for the use by the high school pupils.”

“The building will be furnished throughout with the latest type of the universal adjustable desk and chair. All other furniture will be strictly modern and of the most approved pattern thus insuring the best possible working conditions for the pupils in a safe and sanitary building.”
